A Few X-Pro 1 Photos w/CV 15mm

Just posting a few snaps from a weekend outing with the family using the CV 15mm lens on my X-Pro 1. The RAF files were developed with LR4 using a custom camera profile from my X-Rite color checker. The B&W shot of the train station was a simple LR conversion. The other B&W image of the train car was converted through SilverFX.

As with previous experiments using my CV lens, the corners are a bit smeared. While I expect some of this to inevitably occur with this combo, I continue to be suspicious of the adapter, as the smearing appears to be more prevalent on the right side of the image when oriented in the horizontal position. That being said, I don't consider the lens performance to be a deal breaker with the subject matter shown below. However, for landscape images, I will probably go with the Fuji 14mm when it is released.
















 
I guess we'll have to take your word for it regarding smearing, because these images look GREAT! If the OP wants to post some cropped sections of the edges to show this smearing, it would be appreciated.

Again, for me, this isn't a big deal for these types of shots. However, I tend to be kind of nitpicky when shooting landscapes -- I'm probably spoiled from shooting my Mamiya 7 and LF gear! 😉

Please note that I posted the detail shot from the right corner where the smearing is the worst -- a phenomena that I am experiencing with my particular copy of adapter and/or lens.
 
i've posted a few CV15 pics and a CV 21 pic today and i think they look fine. i will print them to A2 (that's double A3+ or double 13x19in) this week and see what happens...

i think these pics above look really good. and image effects are totally legit given we are making images, not science...

I think it will also be 1-1.5 stops faster than the 15/4.5 CV.

However, given the CV is several years old, and from a 3rd party, its is quite a performer compared to
A) the newer tech that Fuji has access to, and B) they are using a proprietary lens.

For the sake of conversation and pixel peeping, I have reposted the images as out of camera jpegs, Velvia setting -- no PP work done.

As you can see, the right corner is significantly softer than the left corner, which has been borne out in other tests with this lens/adapter combo. If I were to try another lens or adapter and the extent of the "smearing" was that shown in the left hand crop, then quite frankly, I wouldn't see this as being an issue for the majority of photographers out there. Even with these shots, the corner smearing is a non-issue for me. I am looking forward to Fuji's 14mm primarily for it's added versatility, not exclusively due of the corner softness from the CV lens.
