A few weeks ago, I developed two rolls of tri-x with 1:50 rodinal and whatever the bottle recommends for time. Fixed with Ilford Rapid Fixer for ~5-7 minutes. For the final wash, I used the Ilford method and then did two more final rinses with distilled water and ~50 inversions each. Both rolls that came out of the tank have a visible texture all over the emulsion side of the film, which ends up being visible in the scan.

Any idea what happened? The rodinal I was using was ~2 years old, but had been working just fine a week or two before that. I've retired what was left of that bottle, however.

Thanks!

I'd be surprised if it was the Rodinal.

This is a bit of a far-fetched idea, but could it be "reticulation" due to a sudden switch in temperature, for example from your fixer to very cold or quite warm wash water? Just an idea?

The photo looks to be quite flat. Could it be you underdeveloped it (by around 20%)?

Looks like sudden change of temp as suggested. Had that once. The water used after the developing process and before fixing was much colder (or hotter) than the developer/fixer.
