Hi, I've been taking pictures with older cameras for a few months now and I've just taken the plunge with my first RF, a Zorki 4. It finally completed its trek from the Ukraine today (delivered by a very tired looking postman) and I'm pretty happy with it. The condition is pretty good apart from the inevitable grubbiness and everything seems to work except for the RF -lens linkage.
Focussing the lens does not adjust the RF. I've done a fair bit of googling as well as poking about in the camera and, as far as I can see the problem is that the RF sensor has no spring pressure holding it against the lens cam. The sensor moves freely, if slightly stiffly, in response to finger pressure but has no wish to move back under its own steam. Consequently the lens pushes back the sensor when focussing (the RF responds to this) but then remains pushed back when focussing the other way.
Having read through a few posts etc on repairing bits of the Zorki I'm happy to see if I can repair it myself but I haven't found any help for how to go about this specific job. If anyone can point me in the way of a good diagram of the mechanism, details of the repair, describe where the spring is etc. I would be very grateful.
In the meantime I'm going to load it up and use it without the RF ... I will also dig out my old shoe mounted RF and see if it'll fit -don't think there's enough clearance over the shutter speed dial though.

Have a look at the sticky on CLA-ing the Zorki 4/4K, at the top of this forum. That will show you how to remove the top of it, to gain access to the RF mechanism.
Once the top is off, it will be very obvious if the spring is actually missing. However, it's not uncommon for the pivot points to get very gummed up and it may just need attention to those. The spring may well be there but unable to do its job.
