wow, good news for us NYC photographers and Japanese photobook lovers! looks like we'll get to browse through many books that we'd otherwise never have the opportunity to see.😀

Dunstan,

Thanks for the heads up. My old house in LIC is now a disaster area due to construction. I just moved out in time I am told.

Anyways I'm thinking of doing a LIC shoot-out because this is a good place to shoot urban deay and I know the area very well because I lived there for over 4 years. Anyways lots of redevelopment and also the place was vacant during the recession so a lot of the projected loneliness and abandonment I shot is disappearing. Now on weekends there are parked cars and people working.

yeah, haven't seen you guys in a while! missed the last couple meetups, but will try to make it on the 30th. we should maybe consider a field trip afterwards to check out this event and do some shooting at the same time.

I'm thinking of going to the opening with my gal Friday (7-9 PM)

The Pop-Up space opens at 3 PM and runs till 9 PM so a shooting excursion on Saturday September 30th can easily be arranged. LIC is dramatically changing. A lot of the isolation and abandonment I recorded over the years when I lived there is now gone. I'm really glad I have thousands of images to edit. LIC is a lot like Willets Point: going through a transition. Already there's a new skyline forming around Court Square where I use to live.

Anyways I say we group up for a major shoot out at the Court Square Dinner at 10 AM and then we can go shooting for 5 hours before the pop-up event opens at 3 PM.

For those that do not know the area look at the vacant area inbetween Brooklyn and Queens that has no subways that largely is uninhabited that extends out towards Masbeth, Bushwick and East Williamsburg that follows Newtown Creek about 4 1/2 miles inland on Long Island. Also know that its more like urban landscape because there really isn't a lot of people..

I figure that I should at least include my girl in this event by going to the opening because I'll be abandoning her Saturday or Sunday. Good thing she is extremely low maintenance. Anyways "Maggie" knows how shooting makes me happy.

I studied the book arts for a while, and in fact that's where I first met Maggie. A future interest is making limited edition "Art Books" that involve photography. This winter I'll be mostly editing instead of shooting.

EDIT: Remind me closer to the event to dig up a B&W 58mm yellow filter for your Mamiya 6. Its a MRC version. As you know I no longer own my Mamiya 6.

Not sure if I'll be at the opening, but I dug up a B&W 2X yellow MRC filter and a 4x B&X red/orange filter that will fit your Mamiya 6. Anyways I put them on the side for you.

Anyone still interested in shooting LIC Saturday and then later visiting the book event?

ok, well for anyone else interested in the opening on Friday, I'll be there. and Court Square Diner 10am Sat. for some shooting, right?

Cal, thanks for the thought, I believe I already have a yellow and orange filter for my 75mm and 50mm lenses, but bring them along if you want...
 
Dunstan,

I have no use for the 58mm filters. I pass them onto you for recycling. Also know that the MRC versions (Multi-coated) seem easier to clean and somehow stay cleaner longer. If your yellow is not MRC consider using the one I'm giving you an upgrade.
