Interesting, I see Rollei have departed from the hallowed Planar, with the lens in the new model an Apogon.

Probably... Although I've owned an MP, I'd never buy a new one, far too pricey for me.
I do really like the modern Rolleiflexes though, the GX can sometimes be had for a price I'd consider.

I think an M7 or MP is $4995 brand new at B&H. If I did have to spend $5000 on a camera though, I'd get the Rollei.

Yes it does, and that Rollei S-Apogon lens is made by DHW Fototechnik. Maybe their license to use the Planar name has expired or they just don't want to pay for the Zeiss name.

should be same lens design as Planar with different name because the license for using the "Planar" name has expired
