great topic, love it, please more pictures!
Beside Daido, there is also Anders Petersen.

He has a very distinctive style, which I like a lot.
And he shoots a contax t3 most of the time.
But I think that to get this kind of photography, you really should print them in the darkroom. Both of them (Daido and Petersen) are real masters in printing and use this to achieve their harsch heavy contrasty prints.

45 in 45? That's off the hook.
I'm a big Rodinal fan, and def want to try this out...1:50?
Got some Ilford Pan 400 this would rock with, since it's already got a pretty distinct grain.

Daido shot the gr21 lots as well. I shoot my gr1v, push neopan 400 to 5000 and develop it for 45 seconds at 45 degrees in rodinal.

David, I'm really enjoying your Daido project. You've got some really intriguing captures there. As you say, the problem is to shoot spontaneously when you've spent ages getting yourself to frame and shoot deliberately.
I have to admit that if I had a duff shot, I convert it to black and white, bump up the contrast and more often than not it turns out like 'art'!

I agree, it's very difficult to stop one's self thinking about composition, not just whilst taking the shot but also in the post processing stage.

Daido is one of my Three shooting influences/inspiration, the other two would be bruce Gilden and Anders Petersen... love the Idea you got, shooting Daido Style!

Masterful shot! Tones remind me of 60's Koudelka.

Thanks guys.
Maybe we should put together an avant-garde Daido Moriyama-style assignment project for all of us...
