I'm starting to ponder liquidation for M-Milestone. So, 3~4 months to raise $7K.
Those of like minds, what are you going to sell?

You will be replacing items that would have increased in value with an item that will decrease in value. This is a problem.

Selling film cameras
It may be difficult to sell the film cameras for a price you would like .
I found this recently with a few items . Not as many buyers interested at this point . So you may have to sell for less to reach the 7 grand figure for the m
Milestone .

The best camera is one that still works!
If I liquidated sufficient gear to pay for an M (whatever) it would have plenty of space in the cupboard when it arrived ... in fact it would be downright lonely!

Oh, no, rule number one - do not sell any Leica lenses. Close corollary is to not sell any Leica mount lenses.
So, what about Rolleiflex, Hasselblad, Linhof Technika 4x5, Nikon F and RF, a couple 6x9 cm folders?
So darkroom equipment that has sat idle for 10 years?

I am actually considering getting a second job for about 4-5 months, working my butt off, then buying an M and never looking back....
I have the free time, work is plentiful out here, and it is something that I am seriously considering doing....I don't plan on selling anything, just working some more.....
cheers, michael

Let's not list specific gear that you plan on selling, so as not to turn this thread into offers to sell. That's what the classified ads are for.

Think Different
I'm not sure I'll buy an M, though it is tempting, but I long ago accepted the fact that most of my film cameras have lost a great deal of value and that I'll no longer recover their cost if I try and sell them. So I keep them. All of them. I now have 40+ cameras and counting. If I do buy an M someday, I'll just pony up the bucks and make the purchase.

I could sell some stuff quite easily to get to the required amount but as JSU, I am also wondering whether photography and USD wise, the Leica Monochrom would not be a better pick.

I doubt liquidating darkroom gear will add much towards a $7K goal. Of course they may be collectible darkroom gear I don't know about.
Film bodies are another matter. Large format and the Nikon RF may bring respectable prices.
I would check KEH.

Yeah, you might have the best advice, to just work harder to get the funds.
I sold off a lot of my "second tier" photo stuff a couple years ago, although I have "bought back" some of the things that triggered too much seller's regret.
Earning more money / saving for it would be the most appealing although maybe not easiest option.
I like to think that my current collection has holding value as far as resale potential is concerned. But "antique film cameras" in general, who knows.
My M9, well, maybe not so much "holding value". And buying an M-Milestone, well, it is buying into a rapid devaluation curve. Very different thinking, than what was previously applied to buying Leica gear.

You are jumping on the bandwagon too fast.
The real hot one to get is the M-Milestone's replacement

I agree wait for the bugs to get worked out first. Of course by the time you get some funds saved up perhaps the bugs will be sorted out. Remember even the Fuji X100 had a few bugs.

My sell down is underway. I want to see some samples if possible before I shell out the money but thought it was a good time to reduce my gear anyway.

i was already selling down for an M9 at new price as a goal, so i guess i'm good to go
though i'm really not sure if i'll go for the M or an used M9 for half the price, which is also tempting.
