Just wondering what batteries do you use in ur m6ttl? I have one and it's draining batteries very fast.. wondering if I have a camera or battery problem...
1st battery used was panasonic LR44(AG13, A76, L1154, 357A) (these are alkaline batteries?) that the shop owner gave me with the m6. These drained fast. I tried insulation tape over the silver dots in the battery compartment.
By this time I did this I was using Duracell DA675B6 (exp Mar 2014) (these are zinc batteries?). The weird thing I noticed is that I put a fresh pair of batteries into the compartment, had the camera on OFF and the compartment lid was left unscrewed... a month or so later without use, I try using it and the batteries had drained... so im thinking it was a battery problem? :/
So, just wondering what batteries you use (I've shot 4 rolls using 4 sets of batteries!!)
I'm wondering if I need silver-oxide or lithium ion batteries...
Let me know if your battery is any of these (since these are the ones I can get easily)
Silver oxide 1.55volt:
315, SR716SW, 317, SR516SW, 319, SR527SW, 321, SR616SW, 329, SR731SW, 337, SR416SW, 348, SR421SW, 361 / 362, SR721SW, 364, SR621SW, 370 / 371, SR920SW, 373, SR916SW, 377, SR626SW, 379, SR521SW, 381, SR1120SW, 395 / 399, SR927SW, 396, SR926S, 397, SR926SW,
Thanks!

Got my M6TTL in june. The last owner said the batteries have been in for a long time. Have shot about 30+ roles. Still on the same batteries.

I think this might be your M6.. I remember something about the battery compartment having an issue draining the batteries.. Not sure what was causing it, it was only with some early M6TTl's...
Cant really remember specifics though, sorry..

Could you tell me the name of the batteries please?

Thanks finguanzo. I read about the problem and tried the fix (putting insulation tape over the protruding silver dots in the battery compartment) so I'm wondering if it's a problem with the type of batteries I am using (I've read alkaline batteries drop charge fairly fast vs silver oxide).... so wondering what batteries other m6ttl users use... I really dont want it to be a internal camera problem since I cant afford to send it for repair. On the flip side I'm getting plenty of sunny 16 practise lol

Duracell DL 1/3N.
My TTL used to drain batteries quick. When I had my MP finder upgrade I asked about it and apparently there is a problem with some TLL circuitry. Since that time in the shop, it is much much better. I also turn if off most of the time. But I am now getting probably 40+ rolls through it per battery, as apposed to like 4 rolls in the past.

You should use silver oxide batteries wherever possible. They last longer, and they also hold their voltage right to the end, which gives more accurate metering. So look for a pair of SR44 batteries.

I too use the 1/3N battery in my M6TTL. Used SR44's when I originally got the camera in 2000.
Sent the camera into Leica NJ a couple years ago for service, left the battery out, and it came back with a fresh 1/3N battery in it. They screwed up part of the service so it had to go back last year, and again I removed the battery before shipping, and again it came back with another fresh 1/3N battery.
I figured, heck, if that's what Leica uses, that's what I'll use. So far so good.
Best,

I have been using Maxell LR44 in mine without trouble,
I think I replaced them 3 times in 2 years and I frequently forget to set it to the off position.
I would use SR44 but I get the LR44 for free at work.
