This rock sat for decades outside the huge limestone quarry on the southwest edge of the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Long before anyone can remember, someone noticed that it was shaped like a frog, and painted it to look like one. This happened so long ago that my parents say it was like that when they were in high school and had been as long as they can remember. The high school my parents attended, and which I attended too, was just down the street from the frog rock.

When I was in high school some of the stoner kids painted it orange and had the name "Acid Frog" painted on the side of it in black. It was like that a few weeks before it reverted to the traditional green color. Every few years, someone repainted it to keep it looking nice. The stone quarry's employees did this the last ten years or so, but no one knows who did it for the decades before that.

The road is now gone; the stone quarry got the county to close the road and sell them the land, and it has been torn out and the huge hole has been expanded across this land. An era ended when the frog was moved inside the quarry's grounds around 2005, and it is no longer accessible to the public :(
