Had to block myself from the classifieds...

After another round of GAS, I realized that I'll never stop browsing the classifieds by myself - I need a little help since the temptation is too strong. So I downloaded a Chrome add-on called StayFocusd - it lets you block websites or URLs. The RFF "main" page is still accessible to me but the for sale section is off-limits. Today is day 2 - my name is Sam and I'm a (potentially) recovering gearaholic.

I often wondered if it was possible to block the classifieds, I am going to see if I can find a Firefox version of Stayfocused.

the tool sets a global time limit (default 10 minutes, I changed it to 1) that applies to all sites on the custom blocked list. I didn't read the instructions and accidentally blocked myself from RFF all day yesterday.

Of course but you need to make a conscious effort. If you are not in too deep, this is sufficient to help you resist it.

It doesn't let you change the settings for the current day. It forces you to wait until the next day. Fiendishly clever but not forgiving if you screw up 🙂
