A couple of days ago, I received a parts XA1 and have reburbished it into a working model. I did however remove the plastic film advance gear and placed it into my mint XA1 #1. I did some repairs to the broken plastic gear from my original one and placed it into my XA1 #2. I shot some pics with it today which are being processed and will pick up the picture CD tomorrow. I'll post some pics from XA1 #2 ASAP.

Here are a few shots from my refurbished XA1 #2.

Nice samples. The XA-1 doesn't seem to get the vignetting like the XA-2 does.

I know many people like vignetting but not me.

I might need to find an XA-1. :)

Quite frankly, I'm a bit amazed at the quality of the pics it's capable of producing. I believe the quality of the XA1's pics are pretty much on an equal of my XA2 or XA3. I leave for Western Ukraine on Saturday and I'm packing my XA1 with me to see what it will do. It'll be a short trip so I hope to have the pics developed as soon as I return.

Here's a couple more pics from my refurbished XA1. Not as good a shape as my XA1 #1, but the pics are as good.

Here's a couple of shots from Ukraine taken on my virtually new XA-1. It was jamed up when I got it, but I dismantled it, repaired the problem put back together and it works like a charm.

I've already placed a number of the Ukraine shots in the gallery, all shot with an XA-1. I was quite surprised that the available light shot taken at the pick up curb at the airport actually came out. I guess I'll have to take back any negative remarks I've said in the past about the XA-1.

And, no batteries required and you can use 400 ASA but tell it it's 100ASA and get +4 EV's for back lit scenes, which is a little too much but there you are.

Regards, David
