Zeiss Ikon silver and limited

Hi!

I was searching for some info about the differences about those.

So am I right that the only difference is that limited model say limited on top plate and you get a Zeiss Ikon pouch for 70e+?? Do anyone really use that pouch?

I just don't get it. :bang: I'm just thinking of getting second body. I have black allready and I love it! So silver normal or limited?

Based on my experience on ZM lenses, the production quality improves a lot for the later badges, so maybe it is a good idea to get the black ones new as they are the latest production batches.
 
It's not that I would talk you out of buying another ZI - for me it is the best RF camera there is, but consider also the Bessa R4A, if you are looking to add wide angle lenses to your arsenal. In practice, the R4A is a nice viewfinder, with a camera attached as an extra... For a guy like you, who wears glasses, it will be usable with 25mm and very good for 28mm. The 35, 50 and 85mm frames are covered by the ZI - if anything, you could get a 1.35 magnifier for shooting with the 85.
Bessa R3A on the other hand, is not so great for a glass wearer, because even the 50mm frame is a bit tight, and 90mm starts to be risky if you use fast lenses, so in practice it is very good for a 75/2.5 or 90/4 lens only.

Sorry OT, mfogiel, how you go around framing 85 on a R4 and where is a good place to get the 1.35 magnifier?
 
I Use glasses, and have no problem in using 21mm frames on the R4A. It's true that you may have to press the camera against your glasses to see them all at once, but I usually just sweep around if i need a very precise frame. IMO the R4A/M are the only cameras, paired with other "normal" RF cameras, really extend you gear's possibilities. You also save money to buy a CV 4/21(25)mm, if you don't have yet, or save for the new 1.8/21mm.

As a side topic. How cool would be to have 40mm framelines in the R4A. Could make a very nice 21, 28 and 40 Kit, of CV lenses.

Me too would like to know that.

The Nikon diopter lens threads on the Bessas and the ZI seem accept only the MS-Optic 1.3N magnifier which had long been discontinued and is nowhere to be found. Other options using Nikon SLR magnifiers are either bulky or of too much magnification (×2), or both.

Oh gosh here goes the "it's too tight" fight. I respectfully beg to differ. The R3A/M is a bit tight for the 40mm frame but to me, and I do wear glasses, the 50mm frame is a piece of cake. The R3M/A with the Heliar 50mm is a sweet rig.
 
Back to Zeiss: Silver ones, though discontinued, are still available. They weren't very popular because they look so retro (IMO a main point in their favor!).

I recently got one from Popflash for about 1/2 price. It's called a 'demo,' which isn't necessarily true; it's what other companies call 'refurbished.' For both Leica & Zeiss, 'demo' means any camera taken back for servicing and resale, including both real 'demos' and those that were defective and needed repair. Anyhow the 'demo' ZIs are back at factory specs and come with a 3-month Zeiss warranty. Mine was cheaper than used bodies on xBay.

I suppose Popflash/Tony Rose could find you another one.

Thank you all! I desidet to go with the silver one because that one my dream camera. Noticed it first time in silver about 2 years ago. Now I will get one for my silver sonnar and keep it most of the on the shelf or backup. The black one will be user one.!
