M2 frameline selector sticking

I recently purchased an M2 that was described as functioning perfectly and in general it is very nice - especially the viewfinder which is remarkably clear. However - the frame line preview lever is difficult to move, doesn't spring back and won't automatically switch when a lens is installed. Is this a problem easily addressed with a CLA? Could it be some kind of intentional modification at some point? Thanks for any help!

Yep, standard CLA will fix this up.

The spring mechanism for the lever is in the body shell, and easy to deal with if that is the problem. judging from your description, that is where I'd go first, to repair or lube.

If the frameline mechanism is the issue, it requires removing the top shell to investigate. This is a much more fragile mechanism, and not likely that it could stick so much that you couldn't move the external lever.

Hopefully it isn't deeper than that, but if it is, the last level is inside the RF mechanism. This is where the frameline mask is, and, again more fragile than the mechanism that moves it.

But, all very straight-forward.

Exercise it repeatedly.

If that fails, yes, an inexpensive repair.
