Neckstrap for Hasselbald SWC

Hi,
I ordered online a nice neckstrap for the SWC, but one of the two ends keeps on getting loose. I tried to make the fit better, and after many attempts, I threw away the (new) strap.

Do you use a neckstrap or do you prefer holding the SWC in your hands without any strap?

If you use a strap, which type or make are you using?

i used the wide hasselblad strap for years - no issues. i also used the short hand strap about a 1/3 of the time - practical for walking around where good subjects pop up frequently (downtown florence in summer, for example).

isn't there an op-tech strap with good hasselblad clips? i also remember luigi (leicatime) offers hasselblad versions of his straps.

I have the original Hassie strap on my 903SWC and it's really only on there because I *need* to dangle it around my neck whenever I want to shoot with my 203FE (or 5Dmk2). If I were to walk around with just the 903, then I wouldn't have a strap on it at all, because I find that the clip always gets in the way of the winder, sometimes (I'm guessing) messing with frame spacing. It's annoying 😆 And yes, Op-Tech makes good straps for Hassies; that's the one I have on the 203.

I also like a genuine Hasselblad strap, in my case the thin leather one. The SWC isn't heavy enough for me to need a wide strap. I do use an Op-Tech strap with my 503.

Indeed there is. I bought the end fittings for my 501/cm and used an existing OpTech strap that already had. The OpTech Hasselblad attachment fittings are so secure that I can't figure out how to remove them. 😀 Works fine & I can move the strap between various cameras by just removing the strap part with the snap buckles. I do think that the OpTech medium format strap might be a little better.

When I bought mine I was lucky enough to walk into a shop who had just the two short nylon straps that attach to the camera. The salesperson attached the hardware to the camera. I unbuckled the neoprene strap from the camera I was carrying and buckled it to the new nylon ends on the Hasselblad. Less than 5 minutes. Less than $10. Done. Camera stores sure can beat the socks off of buying online.

I took the Hasselblad strap that i had to a local leather store. It specializes in repair of motorcycle leather jackets and saddle repair. You probably have a store like this in your area, if motorcycles are popular. They made me a 2inch wide padded leather strap, that tapers down to and bolts on to the original attachments. I love it, very comfortable, and it was less than 30 dollars. this would've cost me 200 dollars from Luigi straps

Fortunately the second largest city in America has one camera store left with a good inventory of new odds & ends as well as used gear of all sorts.

I have the 'wide' cloth HB strap which does its job; it's the balance and all those corners that make HBs ungainly to carry. Notice how the studs are asymmetrically mounted.

So, I 'palm' them, with a gordy strap screwed to the bottom for security. However, I don't like using the tripod socket for attaching the strap. You can't quickly and surely set the swc down, because there is no remaining flat surface to do so. It sits like a shipwreck.

HB made a short leather hand strap that I haven't tried (and haven't really figured out how you're to use). It goes on horizontally, so I think you palm the back of the camera rather than a side(?). At least, with the gordy you can keep your hand around the lens in shooting position. I've been thinking of getting one with the hope that it magically works better than I've imagined.

I have bought fresh 120 film for the SWC, and I am eager to use this camera ( selectively). I may start with a hand strap.
