Phocus and M9

Hi,
Was looking into LR alternatives and found out that Phocus - the imgae processing software from Hasselblad is free and is supposed to process DNG files. I am having some trouble getting DNG files into the software.

Is anyone using Phocus to process M9 / M8 files ?.
Besides it being free, is it worthwhile considering ?

Do you have adobe photoshop CS4, CS5 or CS6?

Did you get the phocus software on your computer ? It needs a hassy digital back serial number. it only processes 3F hassy files with full features. only limited use with dng/ raw files, same as photoshop so why the extra bother ?

Have a look at Capture One. Usually people who dislike Lightroom prefer C1.
Especially the pro version has superior color control and the overall results are better than LR/CS6, albeit by a small margin. No Monochrom support yet, though.

Thanks guys.
It is not so much that i dislike LR, more that I heard that Phocus was as good.
Also, from the Hassy website, it is a free download, it claims to deal with DNG files.
I tried, but it didn't work. Will get LR4 instead.

As I said, you need the CFV serial number. then it will work.
I had the cfv which I sold, still have the number.. send me a private message...

It works here on a Mac. Just downloaded today after I have read your posts. I am using 10.8.2 on a macbook air.
All is fine, in fact it is quite a good software for free.
You will miss some of the features (noise, dust, scene correction, calibration) as these are for Hasselblad owners.
Levels, exposure, sharpen and BW conversion all work...
Worth to try it out since you have not yet LR and it is free.

hehe, that`s just a demo... Does it support CMI (Copyright management Information) etc... ??
The beauty of a REAL Phocus is that once you are inside the "family" you will get all up to dates etc.
