Dear all,

Just a quick question to something i regulary see in threads. A lot of photos which are on flickr and shared here (or others sites) don't want to appear.

In place, i just have a blank image with written on it: "This photo is currently unavailable" etc...

Is this coming from my computer and related to my internet connection or, is it related to Flickr only ?

Thanks for the info as i want to understand. And sorry for off-topic.

It just means that its not available from Flickr because 1) the poster deleted it on Flickr, 2) they updated the photo on Flickr, which means its file name changed and didn't update the link in the RFF post, or 3) the poster changed the public status of the image on Flickr to a private one.

I guess it might be because the 'Professional' subscription of the person who posted the image on Flickr has expired, in which case Flickr only show the most recent (200, if I remember) images.

It's annoying and one of the two reasons I don't like Flickr - the other one being the fact that they strip the EXIF and put it somewhere obscure on the Flickr site.

Well they strip the EXIF for all sizes except for the original. That's why if I'm going to post something I'll make a duplicate sized down to 800 on the long side then upload so EXIF stays intact. Super easy if you're using CS#, all it takes is to create an action and with a click you're done.

Example, hosted on Flickr w/EXIF present.

As for obscurity it's not really that bad as it's just below the tag section, just click.

As for the images not appearing, that's all on the OP and nothing to do with Flickr.
