any fuji users using a thumb rest/grip/up on your camera?

how would you describe your experience with it?

i'm interested but started to look for a cheap copy and found a few...now wondering which might be better than some of the others?
some are stubby, some are longer, sleeker...

i already use the fuji grip on the x-p1 and am waiting to get one for the x-e1.
 
Look at where you normally rest your thumb. Get a thumbrest close to that point.
I have the lensmate thumbrest on my X100 and, although it is very comfortable gripping it there, I have to think about moving my thumb over there.

Joe, I just got the Lensmate version for my X-Pro1 and find it a perfect fit. They've designed it to pass just over the little control wheel and View buttom... protects them against accidental movement. And I like the fact that its got the little set screw to make the fit more firm. I've found the ThumbsUp version to be a tad loose in some of my earlier cameras.

The Lensmate version is $65... seriously cheaper than the ThumbsUp. 🙂 And they shipped it to me in two days!

The Fuji grip has a nice feel to it, but it must be removed before you can remove battery or SD card. Have you seen the ReallyRightStuff version? It has a hole cut that allows opening of the battery door without removing the grip. Of course when you get their grip, then you'll want to get their tripod locking device and ball head... $$$. 😱

i have the fuji grip for the x-pro1 and like it...i rarely remove the card/battery when out shooting but mostly when i get home and start to process the images.
 
Yes. I call it "the back of the camera." Generally speaking I'm not a fan of extra crud hanging off my cameras. If grip is an issue I apply a strategic dot or two of skateboard tape.
 
I had the Horus Bennu thump grip on the X100 and it was pretty good. When I got the X10 I switched it over to that. Anyway I sold the X10 along with the grip. I now have the Lensmate grip on the X100 and the on the X-pro 1 too. Both work well for me. Helps avoid accidental movement of the dials and improves the grip immensely.

I just put the fuji grip on my x-e1. Really liking it so far. I feel like one of the most important features is that it adds a metal bottom to the camera. The area where it says MADE IN JAPAN seems very plastic and very vulnerable to cracks near the battery door. I feel like this new combo is sufficient for grip and wont be adding the thumb rest.
