I exchanged mine for a D300, on the grounds that the latter being smaller. The D300 may have better high ISO capabilities, but in all other respects the D2X (especially with the latter firmware) was a superior camera. I especially liked the metering. I only ever needed to use exposure compensation when you would expect to, whereas the D300 was all over the place. Ended up using spot or centre weighted metering and recomposing all the time. The D2X seemed to get it right most of the time even in matrix mode.
The quality of the files could not be faulted up to ISO 400, at times 640. Above 800 however and noise could be intrusive.
