Am I missing something?

The description is a joke.
However, many people seem to like those black Leicas with heavy brassing. At least this one looks like it happened while actually using it - seen lots of offers, where someone obviously used sand paper to make the camera look 'brassed'. I don't get it, either...

Only in the manic world of camera collectorism (particularly the Leica variety) can a camera that looks like it spent much of its life whirling around in a cement mixer be assumed to be worth $33,000 - even if it comes with an authenticated original sales receipt made out to a certain Henri C-B ...

And this one doesn't even have that to its credit.

It's a crazy world...

Are you missing something?

Are you missing something?

Hi,

You'll have to bid soon or you will miss it. ;-)

Regards, David

I would buy it in a heartbeat if the seller would offer free postage!:D

Quoted from another thread:

+1

People would be Chroming M3's if most of them came for Germany with Black Paint.

Exactly. Glad I prefer chrome to black. Chrome just gives that... classy look.

Ok, it does have some paint left, which is a bonus, it does have the correct 50f2 Summicron, also with some paint left and a Leicavit MP with some paint left! The last one I got (a long time ago) cost me a Gitzo Pro-Studex Tripod and some assorted hoods. One advantage is that you would not have to spend money on film to wear it down anymore. The Leicavit's tend to be "tired" now and few parts (if any) are available for restoration anymore.
I think I rather have a mintish one and beat it up myself!

You'd have to wonder why people buy expensive cameras from a manufacturer who obviously never mastered the art of getting paint to last. God only knows what state the insides of these things are in!

:D

I looked at all the pictures, and the one thing that got my attention was how much bubbling there was in the paint. Another thing is why is there no difference in the wear on the rebular base plate, and the Leicavit? Could the owner have really handled that camera that much?
