Taking out of a drawer my Kiev-4 (74' build), I have realized that the exposure meter needle, although it reacts to light, it does not go back when closing the meter's cap. Could this be an easy fix?
That page is an interesting read. I had not realised the Contaxes used a mechanical adjuster, the Kiev 4 does not: it uses a potentiometer to adjust the electrical resistance and hence the meter deflection. Very different systems indeed. I imagine Kievs use the potentiometer because it's cheaper and simpler to make. The Kiev does retain the mechanical calibration adjustment though.
Looking for Contax issues while trying to figure out what was going wrong with my Kiev was all I could do since they are much the same for most parts. Lucky for Kievs things can be repaired easier due to partly cheaper and simpler construction (at least for the exposure meter assembly).
