As for the little yellow boxes...

Hey, Old Yellow is real cutting edge. Check this little baby out. If they put a keypad on it it might make it as a cell phone.

What a piece of s*it

Hope the attachment "makes" it!

Actually that Kodak V570 is a rather unique camera (for a digital camera). It uses a dual lens system to provide an ultrwide angle lens as well as a 5x optical zoom lens. Check the specs on it:

It’s two cameras. It’s one camera.
KODAK RETINA Dual Lens Technology
Ultra wide-angle and 5X optical zoom range
SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH C-VARIOGON Lenses
5.0 MP for prints up to 20 × 30 in. (50 × 75 cm)
Advanced video options
On-camera panorama stitch mode
KODAK EASYSHARE Photo Frame Dock 2 included

Not to encourage the trolls, but Kodak exiting the scene probably should have happened years ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see their film department in other hands in two years.

I still miss Kodachrome. The slow stuff. :)
Kodachrome 25 was one of the few Kodak products I used. Now, the only Kodak product I use regularly in Photo-Flo. I occasionally pick up a roll of Kodak colour print film ... but only if Fuji isn't available. B&W is all Ilford, Fuji and Agfa (RIP).

I guess the real problem for K is that they have lost their nearly century long business model.

Yes, they "invented" the Brownie but just like Gillette with the "safety razor" - K realized that the money was in selling the film and paper - not the cameras!

And they were right. So now, with technology change, they have noting to sell!

Look at the display in your local grocery store or pharmacy. K is trying to sell 8mb and 16mb CF's as if they are film canisters!

Problem is - unlike film canisters - CF's are reusable!

K is in serious trouble and that has less to do with the future of film as an image capture medium than it has to do with the fact that they are operating under an obsolete business model.

I don't know what the future of film is as an image capture medium. But I don't think that K has any role in the outcome.

Like Ford and GM, they are a dinosaur firm ready for a break up into seperate firms.

The "beauty" of capitalism is that you can bankrupt the now unworkable business model and realize the inner values.

K and Perez, please do all of us a favor - spin off the Film and Paper division. Because you are now just destroying thier value!

To be honest, I am getting more and more fed up with this "film is dead" stuff here.

I just registered over at the APUG site.

I enjoy RF - I don't enjoy this constant harrangue about film.

I've participated too much in trying to be logical about this issue but it just goes on and on and on.

WHY?

I'll keep looking in here on RFF - but I think I'll be spending more time over at APUG

BASTA as the Italians say! :bang:

It's one of those things that'll be going on for years. According to all accounts radio has been dead since some time in the '50s ... but for some reason they keep putting them in cars. :D

Another place where, now that they know about it, people can wax philosophical about the death of film.
Maybe I should go there to post a couple, explaining how pristine film is, especially the ones I favour, such as Konica VX200, 400, and the newer C-stuff. That's okay, eh, Joe? :D

i think if that's your plan frank...i would support you wholeheartedly!! :)

maybe you could ask them what the difference is between a 24 and a 36 roll, ya know, for starters eh?

lol!
