I plugged the old landline phone the other day and asked my 12y.o. daughter to call me to see if it works and she didn't know how to use it. Sometimes we forget how much our lives have changed in the last 20 years.
That is exactly my point.
Btw, I wonder why there is so much interest in old cameras and lenses. See the EUR 14 million for Barnack's Leica. I don't know anyone, except myself - I mean here in The Netherlands, the people I know - who still shoots on film ... what can I say ... who still shoots with a camera, digitally or on film. What do they do with those old cameras and lenses? They don't shoot with it, that's for sure.
Erik.

This is a lovely photo of you, Helen, and if there could be a more perfect profile picture for RFF, I can't imagine what it would look like.

Very nice, Karlin. How do you feel about the rendering of your new MM compared to this? To me they look so similar. More grain evident here, of course, but otherwise quite the same aesthetic.
John
Thanks John!. for me they are seperat and very different tools. The tonality of the MM is uniqe but I dont see it as resembels film. it is digital with a certain flavor.

John, this is a superlative image in B&W!
The composition, the use of line, and the lighting all come together to such great effect. The dots in the light surface on the right are critical to the success of this image.
I'm impressed with your vision!

Lovely composition with a lot of horizontal lines. And that elusive Contax I being put to good use.

Nice, Pan, that typical dual-lens reflex camera perspective! Brings memories. I've learned photography first with a Hacoflex and then with a Yashica Mat.
Yes. I'm still proud on my working Contax 1 version 3. Prices are up for the Contax 1, I do not understand why. An old Leica is much more fun.

I've shot quite a bit of medium but never l got on with the medium - 35mm is better for me. But this little Rolleicord just performs so well. I had to under-expose by one stop for this picture as there was not enough light and the lens is a f/4.5, but it worked well.

I would be more tempted to get a Contax II than a I but they are historical cameras and people like the aura of history they have. Anyway, I guess those who have a Contax I probably have a few Leicas too.
