A Hasselblad, more than 40 years after first looking.

Nokton, you are living the life spoken of in the wonderful quote from Giacometti that Jim Barnes (Barnwulf) had here as his signature quote: “i now work only for the sensation I have while working.” There is pleasure in the planning and the execution and the waiting for that cable, and even the failures here and there. Best wishes for some lovely results. But they may be secondary to the main game. Like Mole in Wind in the Willows, simply messing about in boats.

Richard,
Very kind words that do explain why I enjoy this so much. Photography invites endless invention and endless adaptation. That's one thing I like about it. And I like to repurpose and rediscover things I already have.

4x5 Sinar Norma Hasselblad CFV16 Digital Back Main Menu by Nokton48, on Flickr

Here's the Hasselblad CFV16 Digital Back on the Main Menu Screen, on my 4x5 Sinar Norma. Capture One Sinar Adapter does the job at low cost. Battery Pack clips on to the bottom of the Digital Back. Need the connecting cord to the PC Socket on a shutter. My Norma Shutters would play nice with this and will be an upgrade. Easy to see the shutter controls from behind the camera. FAST. Image through the 47mm Super Angulon is super sharp and contrasty GG image. At F8 it is kind of amazing looking, being so wide. The precision lateral slide on the Norma Rear Standard means I can shoot multiple images and stitch 'em together. Would make quite a file.

CFV16 Hasselblad Digital Back with Tethering to Macbook Pro 2012 by Nokton48, on Flickr

I found an original (still in the original bag) Hasselblad 400/800 Firewire Cord good for my CFV16 Hasselblad Digital Back. With this I can tether to my new to me Macbook Pro 2012 3rd version, last one before they went to USB only. Then ordered new from the Netherlands, Input and Output Cables for the CFV16. The Hasselblad Output Cable syncs up to my red Broncolor Pulso Strobe Cord, provides connection to my extensive set of Broncolor Strobes. The Hasselblad Input Cable, on the lower right, connects to PC Socket on any camera shutter, like my Sinar Norma and also Sinar Handy Technical Cameras. Waiting for the Mac to come back after a slight adjustment. This surely does beat shooting Polaroid Tests, in order to fine tune lighting and such. Looking forward to see full screen Macbook readouts. Should be fun.

OK. Almost there. Sent the Macbook Pro back and got switched out OS with the Ebay seller. Same unit back, Phocus loaded AOK. If I can connect it, Phocus will recognize my camera, some Phocus aspects will be available. So they still support the Olde CFV16 Back. Yay.

Now I realize that CFV16 Hasselblad Tethering Cord connector to the Mac is firewire 400. My Macbook Pro is firewire 800 socket. Apple specialist at Micro Center told me "nobody in this store will be able to help you, it's too olde." Well Now, after conferring with the seller in Chicago, the answer is a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 Adapter, I ordered two different ones from Amazon. Hopefully one of them will work, my advisor says I'll be good to go.

After the Grey Owl Downpour1 by Vince Lupo, on Flickr

Hi Vince,

I used to have the 120 & 150 Imagons, I used them on Pentacon Sixes. I had Glenn Evans make a "prolongation tube" exactly long enough to focus the 150 at infinity. So I could interchange the two Imagons using the 120 focusing helical. Just Sayin' 🙂

Soap bubble bokeh! But I really, really do not need to be following your lead, much less buying the Kalimar/Soligor/Fujita 66 it was originally designed for (but but it looks cool, sort of like a more advanced Pilot-6...).

Yes and most definitely do not - and I mean do not - follow my lead and get into 1000fs because of all the cool lenses you can use with them, much less this Kaligar. One lunatic in this forum is plenty.
