Your Favorite 2006 Photo?

Here's mine. I took this early this year (it was February I think) but it still remains my personal favourite. One of those where you think you know what you are doing and things fall neatly into place.

Thanks to David (Beniliam) who helped me at the time find my way with PS when I didn't even know what a 'highlight' or 'curves' meant (actually this version here was tweaked by David).

That shot has a very old feel ... something straight out of post war europe

not to say that its your own style, but very reminiscent of Josef Sudek

The vintage feel is down to the rigid Summicron 50. I never felt more at ease with a lens than it. The fact it didn't protrude into the framelines gave me the chance to trip the shutter every time one of the little lads was entering the lower right corner of the framelines. I took may be three- four shots, this was the best timed one I thought.

The film was TriX - the camera my trusty M2.

I agree with David that the photograph conveys an intense liveliness that is often very difficult to capture. This would look lovely framed and hanging on a wall. Again, congratulations Alkis.

I've been thinking that I didn't have much of a year photography-wise. I'm not even going to do a calendar this year, first time since 2000 that I've skipped.

The one thing I did during the year that seemed to have any "staying power" for me was my little dance-rehearsal photo essay, which I'm attaching again as a PDF file even though it's already on RFF somewhere in another thread. What interested me about this project was that while none of the pictures seemed very strong individually, they seemed to gain some synergy when put together.

And as someone else pointed out, today is only the 13th, so I can tell myself I've still got another 2-1/2 weeks to make one really good picture in 2006!

So many of this photographer's work is inspiring, it really is hard to pick a favorite ONE, they are all terrific.

Well, I guess my favorite from this year would have to be this one. Full disclosure, this was shot with a Fuji Natura S ılack 24/1.9 on cheapo Kodak ISO 400 C41 B&W film.
