"To Nikolay Saveljevichu in day of 50 years from fellow workers" - (**link to photo no longer available).

I've seen (and we've discussed) inscriptions on other FSU.RFs. To me, it's rather interesting. I can sort of "put a face" on the previous owner - workin' guy, ready for retirement, at a party in some factory break room, standing in front of a bunch of workmates and a cake with his name on it ... "Good Luck Nikolay!"

Thanks for sharing the link Reagan. I haven't seen this sort of personalized inscrption on a fsu camera before... I agree that it is kind of cool to know something about a cameras past.

I have to keep telling myself... I don't need another Kiev, I don't need another Kiev...

Peter

So ... if your workmates had really valued you they gave you a Kiev. If they didn't and regarded you as a 'pain in the arse' who was finally leaving ... I heard they showed their disdain by giving you two! 😀

Oh, I want it! Alas, I don't really need it - thanks for the link, Very cool.

Hello
Yes, they show up occasionay in *bay and in some FSU sellers shops. This kind of gift was very frequent among the military. However, it is very easy to fake such an inscription, so it is difficult to assess their real historical value. If the inscription is real I agree that the value of the camera increases a lot.
Best regards
Joao

I personally wouldn't be any more interested in a Military Inscription - maybe even less. But a personal gift like this - "average Joe" - is a little more interesting to me, but not more valuable. At the same time, if I wanted a camera that happened to have an inscription, it wouldn't deter me from purchasing.

I have to confess that I have sinned yet again ... the afore said Kiev is on it's way to me from the seller!

My 3rd FSU ........ HEEEELLLLLPPPPP! 😱

It's a slippery slope.:bang: 🙂

Good for you, Keith. I too thought it looked like a decent buy. We'll have to send a note to "Nicolay" and let him know it's in good hands.

Jeez Keith is there no end to the madness ... actually i was tempted myself and I don't even want a Kneb.
Must be all that "workers of the world unite" bull***t finally getting to me.
Happy New Year mate

Easy just do 50 years in 'the factory' and all our grateful comrades will give us one
... or a bullet in the back of the head
I prefer my FED 2 but I like to keep an open mind
I wonder what he will call this one ... Svetlana, Elena maybe Tatiana

Happy new year to you too ... my god I hadn't thought of the complication of having to choose another name. It must be murder being a Catholic!
