Is the Yashica GSN suppose to click, clank, or clunk.

I got a Yash GSN from goodwill.com, and did the required finetoothed comb checks. The light seals are OK, and the aperture, and shutter blades are spot on. The only thing I did notice was when I cocked the shutter it made very little noise, kind of a click, if that. I read on Yashica-Guy's repair page "you will still hear a click with a good pad in place, but not like the 'clunk' you get when the pad starts to go, or is wasted." So my reason for posting this is to ask, " Does it sound like I've got a problem w/ the pad, or not from what I've written or read?" Thanks.

Generally, I have found a clunk, with a bit of resonance, is better than a sharp click - probably due to the click being metal on metal without the rubber PoD.

It's hard to describe, but the best way to find out is a) check your warning lights - deliberately set for underxposure and see if the yellow light goes out before the shutter releases (it should), and b) shoot some film!

PoD replacement is straightforward and you will find lots of help here and around the 'net.

Good luck!

Funny, I just got mine (2) back from being serviced by Mark Hama and they both make a nice "clock" sound. Meter response is quick and sure.
