I think we should start thinking about a kind of virtual world wide festival and other actions. I propose some things:

a) To design a new hat for sale with the inscription "www.RANGEFINDERFORUM.com/10000 members worldwide"

b) That upon the comming date, we fix certain day and hour at which members from the world may send a digi pic showing themselves making a toast on behalf of RFF. This could be fun.

What do you think folks ?

Another idea:

To find some way to assemble each one's most beloved picture, with her/his commentary about it.

This is not to be confused with each one's best picture, as this may turn into a less crowded contest. I am in favour of festivity rather than contest

I think we are large enough to commission a special commemorative camera from Leica. I mean the Chinese got a 500 camera run with the MP Classic, why not us? We could call it the RFF commemorative edition. I know...I know...how about a M8 with all manual controls! ;)

wouldn't that be a waste? Who would wear a RRF.com hat other than on "10,000 members day"? Years ago I made the mistake of ordering a camera strap from the canon shooter forum with the forum's big logo on it. However, it's still a nice strap...

Ruben, I like option B, but it might upset a few of the film diehards!

Rover - IT MUST BE TIME FOR ANOTHER BOOK (or three, since we are now so many).
 
Not to rain on your world-wide festival, Ruben, but I count 8339 members, quite a bit shy of, and many months away from the 10,000 mark.

However, my real point is, how many of those 8339 are really active, meaning read and post with some degree of regularity?

Last month it was called to my attention that I am in the top 50 posters, and bouncing around the number 40 mark from day to day and staying there quite consistently. This actually astonished me. I consider myself to be far from the most prolific posters here. If I'm number 40 out of soon to be 10,000, that means a lot of users are far less active than I am, and I suspect a good number of them are totally inactive.

Hmmmm ... when I look at the Member List, I now get 8400 and some.

On the mini-stats it's 9600 and some.

Any ideas?
 
I make the count one step closer to 10k! : P I'm new here (just signed up today! - well technically yesterday) but I've been lurking for a while. I guess you can say I'm still 'testing the waters' and getting a feel for the way things go around here. I really look forward to being an active member on this board! Everyone seems really nice
 
I think better to go with T-shirt. Hat makes shadows that need not be part of the photos we take. More financialy is to put that Leica engraved (ego goes high) on the back side. In front - www.rangefinderforum.com .
 
10000 or 8000 it doesn't matter a lot. What matters is that RFF is growing at high pace, much newer blood is felt at the forums, the tones of discussion seem to me to be much civilized and positive than in the past, and high quality by themselves and all these amounts to a big achievement for our chief of staff, his fieldcommanders, and all of us.

RFF is a young dynamic and living phenomena in today's photography world, no matter how wide the "acknowledgement" may be. But first of all we ourselves have to acknowledge these facts.

Nevertheless, if you think I am over optimistic, kindly nofity me.

Two weeks ago I posted a thread under the title "Members 9,286"

Kindly notice that today (The Good Thursday ?*): "Members: 9,747".

This means a pace of 230 new members per week.

This means we will round the 10 000 in 7 or 8 days.
