Ran into friends yesterday, and had left all the M6, 35 Asph. blah blah blah at home. Happened to be carrying a Canon IVSB2 with an Industar 535/2.8 lens- the one with the amber coating- and loaded with expired Kodak TC400 film in it. A little Post processing with "Levels", cleaning with "Clone tool", minimal sharpening, and VOILA !
The lens sells for $7.99 on oBoy ! I am impressed.

Lovely photo!
I figure the Industar(either the I-26 or the I-61) lenses are two of the better price/performance deals around.

Nice pic, but how did it look before the digital touchups? Can you post a before and after? I'm curious because I'm always up for a good value, but I'm kind of old fashioned and prefer that the lens and the enlarger give me the clarity, tones, contrast, etc.
Thanks

Roger, here is one from the same bunch; have only sized the image to post here.

Subhash, my I-61 L/D -- an unused one for which I paid not much more than you did for yours -- never ceases to amaze me with its sharpness. Longevity is another matter.

Thank you for posting the comparison. The lens looks like a good performer even without the tweaking.

I'm not necessarily technologically challenged, but I have not tried to do much in photo enhancement via computer because I don't currently have the resources to attain scanning equipment.

Thanks again, I love good value!

I discovered early on, Roger, that photo editing on a computer can be a dangerous game for one who, er, likes to fiddle.

Yes, and that's one reason I have not pressed on myself to learn more at this point. I know that I would jump in with two feet and spend every free moment learning everything I could. A little flaw of mine that my wife finds annoying. :D

I'm the opposite. I post all my photo's without any levelling, straight neg scans if I can. Reason being I'm really comfortable in photoshop and gimme an hour I could probably sort out any change you want, and make it look like an original (I did this with a photo of the girlfriend that was ruined by crescent tension marks over the face from a bad neg).

I'd prefer the happy medium... well actually I'd prefer a darkroom :D

Nice pic on both the original and altered ;)

It was either this or the 35 Asph for $1600. I bet the 'Cron is better, but 200 times better ? I kinda doubt it...
Nice to see your photo Mukul, but you've changed a bit since Sussex.

That's not me in the "avatar", Subhash, but an older bald man whose picture I took recently with the I-61 L/D. Even another thirty years won't make my cranium hairless. I'm rather more grey than the subject, though, I add in haste.
