One is a shot of a fishnet by a digital camera, the other is a shot of a slide of a fishnet by a digital camera (scanner). I'm of the camp that believes at least where 35mm and desktop scanners are concerned, digital capture looks better (but that's a subjective opinion). A medium or large-format slide scanned on a drum scanner, that I think has more oomph than a 10-12MP digital camera.
Here in the midwest, a gob is either a handful of some semi-soft material, or (if you're an old coot like me) slang for someone of low rank in the Navy. Being smacked by either one would not be very pleasant
