I have the M3, love it. I use it with 40, 75, 90, 135. I am thinking I want to go wider to at least 25. I guess estimate the 40 with the whole viewfinder on the M3, and am getting consistent results. I think with 28mm lines I could do 25.
Now my dilemma. I really WANT a MP. I don't need the in camera meter, but the camera is classey, IMO. I've been looking at the M4, and M6 "Classic". I don't use flash so don't need the M6 TTL. I've read that the M4 can be fitted with the M6 finder which would result in more cash layout=less for glass. Besides the obvious metering or lack of, I am at a stalemate between the M4 and M6.
The prices seem to be about the same for either. Also, I want a chrome body, not black. Any suggestions?

why not just buy a 25 with a finder and use the m3?

I need/want another body. I always shoot with multiple cameras. When on a shoot doing digital/film, I carry 3-4 bodies. Although semi-retired, I still make my money from shooting, hence I need the 2nd film body, and that is now Leica RF. Some clients want film, some digital, so to cover both, I need the 2nd RF. BTW I still shoot SLR film, but it not my preferred way, I like RF better.

What do you mean?

....i think he means, but i could be wrong, that the MP is the chosen tool you need next, but that you are obscured by a fence that represents your stalemate between m4/m6, and therefore the MP can not come to you. so you need to let the camera find you, by stepping away from the fence, forgetting the m4/m6, and going with your gut....the MP is it! black or silver

M4-2 or M4-P.

Apparently, one will be hard pressed to find a practical diffrence between the M6 and M4-P (which has the 28mm lines).

only way to solve this problem is to buy cameras.

I actually found that buying just about ANY camera solved it. Last year, I got it real bad and bought a Konica C35 from Greyhoundman. ANd a GSN from someone else, and that did it for under $100.

Of course, then I sold them to buy film for the Bronica.

But sadly you can't have it... if I was SUPER wealthy, I might buy you one!

You guys were right

My thanks to FrankS, and rodneyAB, you guts were right on. I went to a local Brick and Mortat store today to visit a friend that has Nikons and Leicas. I hefted his MP and that sold me. Now, as soon as I can sell 3 of my Nikon DSLR's I will be buying the MP. I don't know why I was so confused, but I have seen the light. MP + M3 should keep my film use alive.(I am keeping my D2x & D2h though)
Again, thanks for the imput. vbmenu_register("postmenu_465472", true);
