Yes, I could teach myself. I have the reels to start. I don't want to convert my guest bathroom into a darkroom. I want really portable stuff I can put away. For enlarger work, I could rent a darkroom.

Sorry to here about your class being changed over to digital, but I'm not suprised. The CCs here have much done the same. But you don't need a CC to teach you film processing, its easy and fun. Go to www. markushartel. com. and click on his tuttirals link on top. He shows you step by step with pictures how to load film and process it with little effort. Markus is one of the best NY street photographers I have seen. He has a great website. Don't be discuraged, have fun with your new craft. Plus do what someone else said. Go to library and get some books on the subject. If your library is like ours they will have plenty to choose from . MOF I need to go to a CC and learn how to use this computer.:bang:

You can use a changing bag if your are house proud. The enlarging does not need 100% dark like film, only the actual exposure needs the safelight, you can then develope in a 'tube' in daylight. An inner room like an under stairs cupboard is ideal for neg dev and enlarger exposure, if you only enlarged at night you only need black blind material, on a bathroom.
Few of us have prof style dark rooms with large sinks and wall enlargers etc.

The development part is 100% portable and takes up little room. Use a changing bag and you don't even night a lighttight space. Some chemicals under the sink and that's your whole deal.
