Man on the Street

This is my first attempt at street photogrphy. This fine gentleman wasn't my intended target but he insisted. How do you think that I did? He wants me to bring him a print, for his girlfriend. I took it with my QL-17. I took this with Fuji iso100 and converted to B&W with channel mixer.

I like how there is white hair like snow on his face and how he has his eyes half closed. Compositionwise, the image is fine but the open area behind the man on the right is slightly distracting. On the other hand, it provides additonal information on the area where the photo was taken. It is rather moving to have someone ask for a photo for his girlfriend at such an age.

I think that he was kidding about the girlfriend. It was all I could do to slow him down to take his picture. He was posing all over the place and I had only one exposure left on the camera. Thanks for the critique. Since this is my first street picture, I need ideas for future reference...
