It's a master piece. I have to blink, as it looks so new.

Do you think that he would offer a "group discount" if several people went together and wanted to get their Ms painted?
I just need to get a new M in user condition, first. Damn. These forums are good for your soul, but bad for your wallet.

I'll ask what everyone wants to know (and wasn't answered above):
How much did it cost?

I think Kim is reticent to give the cost because every job CRR does is essentially custom and the price varies. As he stated, CRR's website quotes repaints like this starting at 325GBP, and the adjusted from there, with discounts/package prices factored in for repair work done by CRR as well.
He doesn't want to be put in the position of one of us sending a cam to Peter, then complaining that Kim got a better price... etc.
*of course, I don't want to put words in Kim's mouth either... just my .02*

Any excuse for a CRR refinish
That's very, very, very lovely, Kim.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is that a satin black finish, rather than an ultra glossy piano black? Sweet! Much stealthier that way.

Kevin,
I had Peter paint my M2-R and I would say the look of the paint is close to what you would find on an M6. It's NOT the glossy look on the new MP's.

Very classy looking piece of kit and a testament to the craftsmanship available at CRR. Just beautiful, enjoy and thanks for sharing.

CRR do normal maintenance - much recommended, and their turn around can be good, and if you lose your LTM take up spool, they do new ones...

Got my M2 back from CRR this morning.
I echo everything that's been said so far in this thread - it's absolutely lovely.

Kully, did you have a paint job done, too?

No Ken, I can't afford that at the moment.
The M2 had to be seen to appreciate its state before going to Luton - paint loss all over the place, scratches, dents and a large area on the back where someone had tried to scrape off a previous owners engraved name. Along with a wobbly frame counter, wind on lever, stuff on the edges of the viewfinder glass and a cracked illumination window. And it smelt like an old toolbox in the shed.
It's come back super smooth, some of the worse bits of paint loss have been nicely painted and the viewfinder is astoundingly clear.

edodo that was discussed in one of my threads "is this even possible?" - the answer was pretty much "no"

Sure it's possible - look for Craig Zeni's posts on pNet about painting his M3.

ash - nobody said yours was impossible to paint yourself ... only that they didn't think you *should*

I was thinking about a glossy baked enamel and those DIY'ers on Pnet (akira and craig) only used hammertone spraycans. I can strip the M down to brass, but maybe someone will know how to make a clean black baked enamel finish and wich paint to choose from.
