Short-selling my M8

Following the lead of many other esteemed RFFers, I must announce that I have decided to sell my M8.

Of course, I don't actually have an M8 to sell -- hence the title. I intend to short-sell my M8.

As all you successful investment bankers (i.e., typical M8 owners) know, short-selling in the stock market refers to selling a stock you don't actually own but which you expect to drop in price. You sell now, at the current (higher) price, collect the money, and then, after the stock falls in price, buy enough at the lower price to cover your short position,

Once word gets around that so many of our esteemed RFF M8 users are selling out of the system, the price of an M8 no doubt will drop precipitously, so I should be able get an M8 AND pick up a little cash on the side.

All we need is a few more M8 owners to announce that they're ditching, and the market will be ripe. So come on, people, jump on the bandwagon!

I just got back from shooting an assignment. We flew at at 14,000 feet in a Cessna with the window open, near zero. I used my 5D, M6 and GSW 690-III all with Kirk plates on a Kenyon Gyro. All in all, a good flight and shoot. The elk tracking crew picked up a couple of good signals in the Maroon Creek drainage, mission accomplished.

Now, I come back home, check my email and read all of this...stuff....what I want to know is the following:

What in the heck are all you people doing with your lives? This site is quickly becoming a joke. If you want folks to stick around, I suggest you get back to doing photography, not making this place a worthless wannbe village.

With the M8 and the DMR (old news), depending on the accounting rules on amortisation of the Sinar purchase, a month before the next earning announcement would be a good time to short. 😀

I just got back from shooting an assignment. We flew at at 14,000 feet in a Cessna with the window open, near zero. I used my 5D, M6 and GSW 690-III all with Kirk plates on a Kenyon Gyro. All in all, a good flight and shoot. The elk tracking crew picked up a couple of good signals in the Maroon Creek drainage, mission accomplished.

Now, I come back home, check my email and read all of this...stuff....what I want to know is the following:

What in the heck are all you people doing with your lives? This site is quickly becoming a joke. If you want folks to stick around, I suggest you get back to doing photography, not making this place a worthless wannbe village.

Leica M8 : Trouble In Paradise

When you buy a new M8, you receive a offer to send by post of a free copy of, LFI, ( Leica Fotografie International). The magazine is the official publication for the Company. It’s primary purpose is to promote Leica. My copy that was sent to me was the DEC. / JAN. 07 issue. The article that got my attention, was a featured story call Leica M8, infrared and other hitches. Page 26 story title LEICA M8 : TROUBLE IN PARADISE. It is a 14 page in depth detailed description of what’s wrong with the M8. Now keep in mind I just spent $5000 for this same camera. You will learn more about, INFRARED / BANDING / 8 AND 16 COLOR DEPTH, than you ever wanted to know. I have to say they took the subject straight on. There were even some apologies and confessions, but the entire time I was reading this article, I couldn’t help think why did they build this camera at this time, clearly they were not technically ready. There is a lot I can say about this camera and what I am experiencing right now. Unfortunately not good news. My problems are not even related to any problems they talk about in there article. That is for another time, if any one is interested. The best I can tell the article is not available on line. I do know you can buy it at there official LFI store on line. Try Goggling LFI. There you go.

Wow. Is it time for a RFF "Qui es muy macho" thread?

Qui es muy macho: the guy who hangs out of airplanes photographing elk and talks in terms of platoons, or the guy with a family trying to raise kids the right way, and for whom RFF is a place to meet with others and discuss a hobby?

I think this place was built on "folks," and "folks" seem to be sticking around.

I hope you were joking, because you're surely coming across as a joke.
