I've actually never liked the term GAS. I know it's funny, but still...
Anyway - here's a thought about one way to solve the issue. Have your wife go to school full time. Then enter an evening, part-time MBA program while still working full-time. Buy an inexpensive car that looked like a solid deal for a project car that'll make it from point A to B, then discover about 5 more problems that pushes it into the "whoa" range. And therefore have no money.
I'd been saving up for a year, seriously, for an interchangeable lens RF. Now I won't be able to do it, likley. But I guess getting my MBA will hold me over.
Yes, this is a lame way of saying I got into school
. I guess it all keeps me practical, in the end.
Happy shooting,
allan

Might I also add to your list of cures: "having a baby" and "furnace repair"? Not only will they cure GAS but they will thin out your existing collection as well!
There are more important uses for our cash than more camera gear, with education and travel chief among them (IMO). Cameras are just things, education is life-altering.
Good luck in school!

Also add the threat of divorce from your significant other to the many things that stop G.A.S.

Buying a house has cured me for sure. I even have a hard time coming on RFF now. But I can't stay away.

There's surely one way to solve GAS and it's buying what you wanted to buy.

Kaiyen,
You are young yet - and both you and your wife are still building your skillsets.
Consider this:
Years go by quickly.
Faster than you think you will come to learn that when you have plenty of assets to enjoy - you have less and less time to do so. That will require you to use your time wisely.
Enjoy where you are now in life and remember this. The best gear in the world can make the best photographer in the world only a little bit better. But it can do nothing for the worst photographer.
Focus on your vision. In time the gear you desire will come to you. Be ready for it by honing your eye now.

Thanks for all the support and words, everyone. Yeah, it was self-aggrandizing to post it, but I have to tell someone
I have never had the feeling that I needed gear X in order to realize my "vision." In fact, I don't think I have or have ever had GAS, at least not in the various forms it's been mentioned here. There have been times when I've bought things because they were a good deal, and because I wanted to try something new. But so far I've avoided it. It was just a good way of getting people's attention.
Of course, I might feel this way because my wife has been in school for a while now, and we've had a tight budget all along. I can hardly go spend money on a camera when she's working so hard in school. We have cameras to meet our needs. That's enough. I only brought up the RF I had been hoping to get because...I had been hoping to get it
. And I had indeed been saving up for a year.
Anyway. Thanks.

I find that eating REALLY hot food solves most problems. The more you eat, the less other things bother you. Works beautifully.
I make these candies with large quantities of hot sauce in them. I should sell them on RFF as "GAS-out" - it burns the GAS out.

Jorge is right. GAS is one of those things that actually makes me happy in a sick way. Like every day is Christmas Eve when you have some money to burn. There's a camera right around the corner!

you know, another way is to take out your favorite camera and love it.
I am really wanting an M2 or 3 right now, and I see one now for a nice price, but I know I can't afford it.
I went and got my little black Lowepro and took the Bronica out to hold it for a while. As soon as I pulled it out, my eyes filled with tears and I knew I could never love another. It put those feelings of GAS to bed. And for good.
