According to BBC News, the user agreement for the Vista operation system extends to Microsoft the right to control what is or isn't on your PC.

Microsoft may remove any deemed high risk or unwanted software files without notifying the PC user. This is in addition to limiting the PC user's ability to transfer or write copyrighted files.

Yes, Macs can run Linux. It would make sense also that the new macs with Intel Core duo and Core 2 duo processors are able to run virtually all flavours of Linux.

One thing that sucks about OSX is that it doesn't display graphic files as thumbnails when viewed in a folder.. Windows has had that functionality for years now.. Is it too much to ask a graphics oriented OS to display JPEG files as a photographic thumbnail rather than a JPEG document ICON?
 
I believe Apple wants you to use their iPhoto, which for me seems a bit slow. I've noticed that some of my photos display as thumbnails and some don't. I can't remember which I've imported with iPhoto and which were done without.

Anyway, with regards to Vista, I see a trend. That "I accept" box will be used to give more and more companies control over your computer.
 
I like that Microsoft wants to enter my PC, so I can develope contra war on them. Let them try. BTW, no news about that. They are in your PC every time you upgrade the system explicitly or implicitly to update their 'log database'. Big Brother. I know them since DOS 1.1 and compilers like Fortran and Cobol for DOS

Lots of my JPEGS do not have a thumbnail attached. I can't view thumbnails of them on my MacBook when I'm browsing in Finder.. very annoying. Very nice OS, but garbage thumbnail feature.

Looks like I need to use this software to manually build previews thumbnails for my images.. sigh..

MikeL I usually need to view a large collection of JPEGs and then identify the ones I want to manipulate. I can usually do this just by scanning thru thumbnails in Windows XP. This is the source of my annoyance.
 
I didn't realize that about Mac OS and thumbnails, that's a shame. Is there a RAW thumbnailer available like there is for XP (even if you have to download 40mb of updates to install that one...)

That works... ish. I'd probably use Lightroom or something if I had to use an Apple, but I don't so I won't worry about it.

If I was in the market for a laptop, the MacBook base model would be at the top of my list, but I'd use either Linux or XP with it most likely. It's got impressive hardware and they're built well, that's what I want.
