Epson recommends 41 to 95 f or 5 to 35 c . It's -16 c where i'm at and would like to use the camera outside. Anyone use their camera in this type of cold?
Biggest issue i see is battery life. all comments welcomed.

I've used mine in the 30's F for long periods of time and in much colder temps for shorter times without problems

-19 C (-27 C windchill) here today. No problems.
Keep the camera close to your body, take it out only as necessary.
I spent 2 hours out, no problems during that time. Might not hurt to bring a backup battery.
My backup is my M3 - it always works.

Last week it was cold as well.

It's even colder today (-19 F / -30 F wind chill), but the coldest I've taken my M8 out is about -7 F; no problems either.

Always keep the camera as close to (i.e. pressed against) your body as possible when it's cold outside, specially when it's below freezing.

Digital camera manufacturers will always say that the minimum operating temperature is 32 F / 0 C, and that is still good advice.

Really cold here in Philly today but the camera worked fine....unfortunately my hands didn't fare so well....changing shutter speeds and F stops was a chore......

I've experienced condensation(icing?)on the RD-1 sensor (looks like dust) when the camera goes from hot/warm to extreme cold. Seems to disappear when the camera warms up.

Well it was in the high 80's here and my camera worked just fine 🙂

make sure you've got yourself a real good card. sandisk extreme or something. i often shoot in VERY cold weather and it's usually the battery or the card that stop functioning.

Thanks for the advice. I did get good cards and an extra battery. Todays weather will be between -2 and 14f We're having a heat wave.
I have experenced codensation with my mp-4 not fun looking thru a cloudy viewfinder. I just got the camera last week and am working on learning to use it effectivly.I think i got a good one out of the box.

BTW I'm in Cleveland Ohio at the moment. with some nice winds coming off Lake Erie.
