this is a question for the guys more skilled at repairing cameras.
Just yesterday I realized what a good material a CD-R is. It's clear plastic with coat of reflective layer. Easily cut mirror. But there is more. Some CD-Rs are semitransparent. You can see through them. That possibly makes them a good material for beamsplitters in Leica II, III clones like Zorki and FED...
Has anyone tried this? What do you think about this idea?

It's worth a look!
To be a good beamsplitter, the mirror needs to be about 50% transparent and not too thick. It would be great of we found a plastic material, as a lot of beamsplitters have grooves cut at the edges for alignment. Glass can be a real pain to shape and not break.
