OK, so this camera has its problems. and yes i paid alot of money for this dang camera. but you know what? i love it. i love it big time. its been about a week for me traveling through europe (currently in paris) and i'm having a blast. my biggest peeve with my M6 was the ISO. i'm always going outside, inside, outside, inside, and i never have the right film with the right ISO. so to be safe i'm either at 400 or 800, and its too grainy for me at times. and i hate coming back home to find out i've screwed up on my exposure on a what-could-have-been good picture. M8 is exceptionally good with noise and grain and i get to see the histogram! i can switch ISO in an instant. yes, i have the purple cast, my battery runs out too quick, my SD card writes damn slow, blah blah, but here i am posting my pictures from france and i'm still in france! small and discreet like the way i like my leicas and now with instant gratification! i love it.

this was funny:

Charles,
you're lucky to be in Europe breaking in your M8, I have to find time around my day job.
Congratulations and keep on posting pics.

Y'know, there's no extra charge for upper-case letters. Just thought I'd mention it.
A line space to separate paragraphs is free, too.
These things sure make text easier to read.

Trojan Charlie,
I love mine too and your shots look great. I especially like the third one. Regarding the battery issue- the next time your in your hotel room turn off the preset that switches your bat off after x number of minutes and let your camera run your bat down to zero. Then when you get up in the middle off the night check to see that the bat is totally dead and put it in the charger. Now when you wake up in the morning put your 100% charged bat back in the M8 where it belongs and get your self some coffee and a croissant. You'll show 100% charge on your bat meter and it will run for most if not the whole day.
Cheers and enjoy (I wish I were walking the streets of Paris taking pictures instead of working on my computer on a Sunday and checking in on the frustration fest that is the M8 board).

thanks for the tidbit mr. ted. my battery is actually not too bad. i just have auto review turned off for now and only review the histogram when i feel like lighting is difficult. and actually, getting used to not having the LCD screen turn on each time i take the picture makes me work harder to take a better picture (like it feels with taking pictures with film-cameras verses digital cameras) which i like very much.
my last leg of this trip is NY. i already had two dreams of being at B&H stocking up on batteries and fast SD cards.

That was one of the reasons I sold my MP....then took the money and bought 2 M6's. One for ISO 100 and the other for ISO 800. Plus it's a backup.
