Green Bessa R2 and Silver T, Would like a silver Zeiss Ikon, but pension won't go that far!!! Ah well there's always the lottery!!
Use the Bessa T with a Visoflex 111, for close ups with bellows and tele shots with a cheap mint Telyt 280, I picked up.

My Bessa R & Canon LTM lenses are a wonderful combination.

question. How much quieter is the R3M (than the R3A)? Since enrolling in my photo class, I find myself shooting in manual mode. I also received a beautiful Sekonic light meter for Christmas from my wife, so I want to rely less on camera meter and more on my eyes (and the meter). And finally, the full manual option is very attractive after having had to remove the grip and batteries in this freezing weather just so I could warm the batteries in my pocket!

I haven't much use for my L, but even that minimal use is probably worth more to me than its small sale value. The T is its logical successor IMHO...

I agree, Peter... Mine was $100 at B&H added to the cost of the 25mm Skopar and 15mm Heliar that were my original purchase intentions. At that price, the choice was automatic. :) I've dedicated my L to the 15mm also, which I don't use often.

2 R's. One is the backup for whenever the first one dies. If you really love something, buy two of them!

Favorite lenses are: Jupiter-3, Jupiter-8, CV 35 f2.5, CV 28 f3.5. Have also gotten great shots with the Jupiter-9 and Jupiter-11, but I don't use them nearly as much.

Quite excellent Russian copies of Zeiss lenses in M39 mount. Most common are the three Sonnar clones Jupiter-3 (50/f1.5), Jupiter-8 (50/f2) and Jupiter-9 (85/f2); the longish Jupiter-11 (135/f4); and the wideangle Jupiter-12 (35/f2.8) which isn't really compatible with the Bessas. They are by far the best bang for the buck in M39.

Jupiters are lenses made in the former Soviet Union. Most (or all) derive from Zeiss designs seized by the USSR as war reparations after WWII. Jupiter 3 is a 50/1.5 Sonnar, Jupiter 8 is a 2.0 Sonnar, Jupiter 12 is a 35/2.8 Biogon, Jupiter 9 is an 85/2 Sonnar and Jupiter 11 a 135/4 Sonnar. There are other Jupiters in other mounts, but these are the basic RF Jupiters.

I am a Leica M user and was longing for a RF with aperture priority facility. The M7 would be the obvious but expensive quality choice. I decided to try the lower cost alternative of a black R2a. This I use with a 35mm Summicron and I am astounded by the results! I find the metering very acurate for my needs (colour negatives) the wind-on positive and smooth, the shutter barely louder than expected, and the viwfinder clear, bright and uncluttered. The 35mm Summicron fits the body and balances with with it perfectly, and is hardly noticeable in the VF even with the hood on. As said above, pictorial quality is outstanding; but then, isn't this what one should expect from a 4th type 35mm Summicron lens?

These Russian lenses really are an amazing value. For around $400 I got 3 50's (Jupiter-3, Jupiter-8, Industar-61LD with a fully functional Fed-5 attached), an 85 (Jupiter-9), and 135 (Jupiter-11) -- and most people would say I paid too much!

I started with a black L, then added a black R. Liked them well enough, I decided to buy one more of each, in case I ever have a problem, which I haven't. Just recently added a black T.

My wife is strictly a point-n-shoot snapper, and she loves her L!
