Just wanted to give a little plug for Luigi's Cases.
Leicatime is a sponsor of this forum and I have used his cases before. I just received a case for my R-D1 and also a Konica Hexar RF. Both with built in grips. The feel of the camera with the biult in grip makes all the difference to me. With it and a wrist strap you can carry the camera in your hand all day.
I have the same case for my M6 with Tom's Rapidwinder and it sold me on the case and grip combination.
The best part is the smell of leather when you put the camera to your eye to take that "Next Shot"
Give him a look, it's worth it.

I've just received a Luigi case with grip for my RD1S, and also agree that it completely transforms the feeling of the camera in my hand. The whole process was a very personal service, and quick despatch, so he gets my vote too.

I'm thinking of buying a case for my M6 but I haven't decided yet. I got an old never-ready case for it now but it's a bit bulky and not very beautiful. I hope I can go to the RFF Paris meeting and that someone there will have a case for me to inspect. They seem fantastic from what I've read.
Can't decide on colour though, black or rally brown...

Emil,
Buy a brown case for your Leica if it's a chrome one, buy a black case if your Leica is a black one. I have four of these cases for my M6 and Ig, both with and without a Rapidwinder. I use wrist straps on all my cameras and I like it. Have a nice time in Paris!

You have to mention his straps too. I have a few and my favorite with my R-D1s is the tan braided. It's incredibly sexi on that camera.....mmmm

Received this case from him about 2 weeks ago. I asked him to custom make the case in burgundy leather... He's only recently started to produce cases in this colour. His site shows an M6 with a burgundy case which I thought looked out of this world.
Sorry this one's not a rangefinder

Never Ready Cases
Never Ready Cases
Never ready for dropping one camera on the other when shooting two.
Never ready for being caught up and mashed in a crowd.
Never ready for stowing the camera under a car seat.
Never ready for keeping the light meter from mashing the top of the M2,3,4.
Never ready for the dents and scratches to the lugs area from strap clips.
Never ready for the tripod scars.
My M4 in on its third used $25 Never Ready Case. The M4 looks as new.
The best thing about Luigi is his little Zorro moustache, and I like that a lot.
Which takes longer? Unsnapping a button or removing a lens cap?

It might clash with the red skin from Camera Leather.

Shoot first, think later
Dressed like this the R-D1 realy looks good. I've always thought the part of the body under the "R-D1" label looked kind of "naked" but the case does the trick.lewis44 said:This is the case with built in gip for the R-D1

I cannot say enough good things about Luigi. I am about to order a lower case for my IIIg...to go with the M6 and MP cases. By the way, Freusen's Ig is beautiful.
Just wish Luigi made a lower case for my C/V R2S.

Another satisfied customer. Luigi's handmade cases are first rate. And Luigi is a pleasure to deal with.
Luigi's cases and straps are expensive, just like a good pair of leather shoes are expensive. Sure you can use the cheaper leica ER cases, just like you can buy leather dress shoes at Payless. They'll protect the camera just fine.
The old leica never ready case does not compare - it is big, thick and bulky, and does not help you grip the camera like Luigi's does. And the strap - I would not trust those old brittle leica straps with my camera.

I've contacted Luigi because I need a specially-made case & straps for my Pentacon Six... I'll let you know (and see) in a few months
