Okay, I decided I have enough stinkin' cameras and lenses. Here's what I have

MF
Kiev 60, most of Zeiss Jena lenses, including the Fisheye
Iskra - being repaired by Oleg
Ventura 66 Deluxe w/ Solinar lens

135
Vivitar 3000s with:
J9 (M42)
50mm Pancolar (M42)
35 Zeiss Jena Flektogon (M42)
24mm Sigma (great cheap wide in K-mount by the way)
19mm Vivitar (K-mount)

Fixed Lens Rangefinders
Mint Lynx 14 IC
Yashica GSN
Yashica Electro CC
Konica Auto S3

Digital
Panasonic Lumix FZ1v2 (early one with 2.1 megapixels...)

By any measure, a fair number of cameras to play with... But nothing compared to the gear some folks have here, and as you can see my this list, I err toward the "bang for the buck" side and try not to let my addiction get out of hand price-wise.

Decided I have too many cameras, and am deciding which ones to sell. Want to use the ones I really like (like them all actually...) more often, without this weird nagging "obligation" to play with the one I haven't used in a while... Gave away a Canon AE-1 with a couple primes recently to a friend. Gave a Canonette 28 rangefinder away too and an Electro GT...

INTENTIONALLY stayed away from anything LTM... Because I KNEW I would get lens lust... Then I would be drooling over the various high-end glass, competing with a dozen others on auction sites for that Summicron, and the range of other great but expensive glass by Leica, Canon, and Nikon... I know there's decent FSU glass that's inexpensive and readily available, but I also know I would have that itch until I got the real deal and probably just start with an Industar22 before biting the bullet, again, and again, and again...

Along comes a buddy at work who heard I'm into "old cameras". Hands me a mint Canon 7 body (no lens) - meter works, and everything. Never even saw or held a LTM cameras... Man is she a beauty. The guy says, make me an offer - $60? $70? If that's too much I'll work with you... Let me know by Monday (tomorrow...) cause I want to put it up on eBay but I'll give you first dibs...

This is gonna bug me all day. Gah!!!!

don't let it bug you, for $70 buy the 7 and let the rest fall in place. Or, buy the 7 and send it to me.

You guys are bad influences! You remind me of my friends back in college...

'nother beer, Nick?
...uh, I really shouldn't.
C'maaaahn.
Alright...

rinse, lather, repeat... : )

See, point is, it ain't the cost of the camera body. It's what's sure to follow. It's one thing to pick us a compliment of M42 lenses for $50, $60, $70 bucks. Quite another when you're addicted to LTM (or, worse, "M") glass.

You don't have to buy the expensive Leica glass - get the CV lenses - they are a great value and will complement you 7 very nicely! If you don't buy this 7 for $70 we will all declare you insane:bang: :D

That 7 and a Canon 50/1.8 will be a great team and run you about $200, not too bad.

Just let it happen, Nick. Don't try to fight it. There has to be a reason that you are offered this gift. Let the universe unfold as it should.

Quite a few of our guys are nutsy over the CV 35/2.5, and others
favor the Nokton 40/1.4. Have a look in CQ. If you have a great
Canon 7 body, you can use these or other CV lenses, without an expensive
adapter. Recently, I bought the CV 25/4 Skopar, and the Voigtlander
LTM to M adapter cost $55-.

You can consider what you really are not using in your gear...
and not likely to use. If it will make you feel better, sell a few pieces.

Good luck with it. mike

okay, I'll alleviate your pain. Just send me the guy's phone number or email so I can contact him and keep you from needing to buy the camera.

please? :D

Then...

'nother beer, Nick?
mmmm, I really shouldn't
C'mon!
Okay...

Now...
'nother camera, Nick
mmmm, I really shouldn't
C'mon!
Okay...

Boy, has my life gotten boring : (

Thanks for you insights, gents... Looks like we'll be adding a Canon 7 to the list.

Nick, I think you'll find that many of your existing cameras will be left untouched once you get this Canon RF, so you'll be able to sell them off and actually end up with fewer cameras than now. See, I told you there was a reason! :)

I think there's a couple of guys
ahead of you in queue

But it sure can't hurt to try, can it? Besides, this way I'm completely eliminating Nick's contact with the camera...
