Congrats, looks like a well-used camera. A light cleaning and you are ready to rock. I've rocked on for 6 rolls of Kodak BW400CN film during the last two
weeks...photo-craze or what? 😛 Gotta start sharing the pics as soon as I get them scanned...

That a nice looking shooter. Well seasoned, but certainly not down for the count yet. I went to town yesterday with my Zorki 2c w 50 elmar collapsible & shot some old storefronts. Carying that old camera around & taking readings with my lenongrad 6 exp. meter is alot of fun.

It's always been my experience that it's always better to wait until you see the camera in the flesh so to speak before judging it's over all condition 🙂 once you've given it a good clean and dug the gunge out of all the cracks and crevices ,what looks quite a serviceable camera can actually be a tidy looking camera underneath 😉

Hey, not to worries - that's going to clean up fine. Hard to tell from photos, but looks like there's some [typical] grunge, but not much wear. Good for you. Out of curiosity, did you PS over the ser.# or...? No biggie. I just noticed it missing.

I don't see the serial number on the top plate. In those bilingual Zorki, it is normally right above the accessory shoe. Did you erase it? 🙂

It would be a nice shooter if the shutter is good.

I asked about the serial number because many of the "Зоркий-Zorki" with 5-digit serial numbers have rather tight film chambers which make insertion and removal of standard factory cassettes from Kodak or Fuji difficult.
I have about 5 or 6 such dual-marked Zorki; those above the 115XXX range don't have any issues with film cassettes. However those with lower numbers do. These Zorki also have very FED features like a round pressure plate, a
flat shutter release spring, tear-drop shaped rf feeler,etc. Look here for more details.

Looking at the third picture of your Zorki, I think it's a model from the more user-friendly range of Zorki. Happy Shooting with it and hope you get addicted to them! 😀

The serial no. is on the back or on the back of the RF housing and starts 54 or 55 (don't remember). One of the reasons I bought it is that it has the old progression of shutter speeds 20 30 40 60 ... good for low-light. I guess I'll pair it with my J-12 and Helios finder... or a J-8 ? Or keep it pocketable with the I-22 ? 😕

Play with it with the collapsible I-22 first. That would indeed make the set more pocketable. Lots and lots can be done with just a 50mm. You simplify not only the gear, but also you get used to the view of one lens so that in time, your eyes can see the same way as your lens does.

With the small Zorki cameras, the collapsibles seem to work best. Any other 50mm would make it less compact. The J-8, or non-collapsible Industars would make the camera more bulky. And for some reason, I think that those lenses give the Zorki a fat snout ....it doesn't, hmmm look sexy anymore 😀 😀 😀.

Putting a 35mm on the camera also means putting an extra accessory on the shoe.

I suspected... just more evidence that KMZ's assembly motto was, "Variety is the spice of life." IMO, it's part of the charm.

I like the Jupiter.12 on my Zorki.1s and cousins Leica.III, but I rarely, rarely use an aux.vf. I sunny.16 exposure, guesstimate focus and generalize framing. How's that for sloppy seat-of-the-pants photography? 😉

The Industars are great too and are usually my 50mm of choice on a Zorki.1. Jupiter.8s may be bigger, but IMO they're a heck of lot easier to operate than the Industars, both focus and aperture-wise, plus two extra stops. But getting the shot you like is what you're after, so try 'em all and see which works best for you - that's the one you'll enjoy most.

After CLA...

After CLA...

Well, I got the camera last saturday, and just yesterday I finished the CLA.

- there was fungus inside the lens (behind the front and the read element - I guess it must had been stored in a damp cellar...
- checked collimation of the lens
- after removing the shell I cleaned the inside of the body
- put some light oil on the gears
- relubed advance and rewind knobs
- relesed over-tensioned curtain springs (1st curtain from about 5 turns to 1.5, the 2nd similarly 😱)
- checked register distance
- calibrated rangefinder

After the CLA this is my quietest camera. Unbelievable. All it does is a quiet klack
The rangefinder is quite bad - lacks contrast 🙁 The viewfinder is fine. Tiny but fine.
In some places the chrome is flaking off, but that's just cosmetics 😀

With the collapsible Industar it looks so .... classic 😛

I also tried to mount my J-12 - still looks good...

But with J-9 it looks very strange. The lens is so huge... now I understand why Leitz produced only an Elmar 90/4 for "Barnack" leicas 😉

The biggest problem is, that now I want a real "Barnack" Leica :bang:

Looks good Spyderman, really good. What a difference from the original pic shared. Here's a quick shot of an Elmar.9cm on a Zorki. I remember being pleasantly surprised at the compact size when the Elmar arrived. I'm sharing because your photo has just revealed to me the size difference of the J.9.
