Just opened one of those magical brown paper and string parcels from OLeg - my first .
Inside , a blue taped box ... and my ''Leica II '' black Fed pretenders , now trustworthy - smoother and less gritty , style AND substance !
But the Fed 2 c with blue covering shows just how un-cla'd my 3 x blyatnikov cheapies are , and how a Red menace can rival a Leica for smoothness !
dee-lighted doesn't even cover it !!
Throuble is I want to open more presents ... is there any escape from this madness ?

Not really!
I didn't touch a FED in a long time, until I started the third Pass the RF project ( http://shardsofphotography.blogspot.com/search?q=pass+the+rf ). Now I'm shooting B&W film again, even trying my hand at developing it in coffee! ( http://shardsofphotography.blogspot.com/search?q=coffee ).
It's crazy, I tell ya. I vowed not to shoot film anymore after I got my R-D1. But the FED is making me break my oath. Now I'm secretly looking at a "new" FED, one that's CLA'd and smooth and fine.

Eventually, I am gonna have to break down and just send something to Oleg. I probably should start with the Z3M I just got. It is the wait that drives me nuts...

Waiting on Maitani
Man, I know I shouldn't have opened this thread. "I do not need a Fed. I do NOT need a Fed. I DO NOT need a Fed."
OK, so here's my question. While I like 50mm, I'm basically a "wide" guy... 35mm/28mm territory. With the increased DOF scale focusing is more feasible than longer lenses.
Any of you FSU shooters have good experience with shooting wide in settings where you don't have a lot of time to shift betwen rangefinder and external VF?
Or should I just pursue a body with built-in framelines? Big difference in price, of course.

Goddess - just bought a Zorki 4 - the most boring red in existence [ Fed 5 excepted ]
AND with an Industar 50 in silver ...
It has a brown snake covering - more like those you can get from the USA , rather than the horrendous Russian offerings - it looks mint , but £40 all in for a Zorki 4 is plain daft - could have got a Z3 for a bit more - BUT I WILL NOT JUMP ON THE LOPSIDED Z 3 BANDWAGON .
Well , for now , of course ...
