I just got my M8 but within a few hours I received an "ERR" in the viewfinder and
a "shutter fault" on the LCD screen. Anyone with this issue??
Any suggestions?? Of course I can hardly wait until Monday am to call Leica.
The store would give me another camera but this was the last one.

My friend had this problem and, unfortunately, had to return his camera. However, his dealer replaced it for him and within three days overnighted him one from a new shipment. Hopefully, your dealer can do the same for you.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, the problem with dealer warranties, is when they can't cover it when there are no bodies in stock (afaik) to promptly replace yours.

I too have a friend who had this exact same issue and Leica shipped him a new camera in exchange for is DOA unit. This is a prime example of this camera's tendency to have EFR issues (early failure rate- a common phenomenon with electronics that states if you are going to have an issue it is much more likely to happen right away- all too common I'm afraid with the M8). After the first few thousand shutter activations if your camera is going to have an issue then it most likely already has or if not then it will likely be OK over it's life span (we shall see). Your story is a prime example of why one should only work with a reputable Leica dealer that YOU trust. If in doubt ask about.

I had a similar problem.
Sometimes the shutter doesn't work.
I press the button but the shutter doesn't fire.
It occurs randomly.
Sometimes I turn the camera on and off and it works again, or I change to manual mode (from aperture priority) or I remove the battery.
I will send my camera to Leica for a replacement.
