Hi, new to the forum and RF photography, though I've been lurking here a while, learning. My first questions is rather inane, I know  , but I have new (used) R-D1 and just received the Ultron 28. I'm curious if there is a lenscap that will fit the lens without the hood attached, just to be as small as possible. I can certainly live with this beautiful little lens if not. Thanks, I've already learned a lot from you all. ~ Curt

Welcome.

Here is what I do: buy a cheap 46mm filter and a generic 46mm front cap.
Knock the glass out the filter, screw on the filter ring, and use the
generic 46mm cap on the empty filter ring.

Best,

Roland.

Curt,

Check with cameraquest.com or popflash.com as they sell cv equipment and should be able to easily supply replacements.

I seem to recall reading that using a cap without a hood can damage the front element on this lens. You may want to search at pNet for the topic - I think it was there, and may have been posted by Lutz Konermann.

Hi, I do use a uv filter (Leitz E46 13004) that was with the second hand Ultron.
I baught on ebay a Leitz cap (E46 14231)
They fit wonderfully...

The Zeiss ZM 28mm lens fits.

The Zeiss ZM 28mm lens fits.

That's it, the Biogon 28/2,8 cap fits on the Ultron.
And they could be purchased separately.

Another way is to just slap on a filter.
I never use any lens cap.
Just a filter, and put it in my bag,
so if I whip out my camera, it's instantly ready.

After failure of the pot metal hood on the Ultron, I use a cheap 46mm cap on mine and it does not touch the element.
