Howdy to all from a newbie.
I am just starting to use my Yashica and am wondering about battery replacement as it has an old PC640A battery. I know it is fairly simple to adapt the PX28A but was wondering if anyone has tried to use the PX28L lithium battery?

Copied from another thread in case it's useful:

(No adapter needed)

The one I got from the local Batteries Plus store is white with these markings:
PC164 / TR164A
E164
6.0V
ALKALINE

Also, the + end of the battery is flat, while the negative end has the bump; opposite of any other battery I have seen. So it's easy to put in backwards and think it doesn't work.

WARNING: The Batteries Plus website is entirely USELESS for finding this battery.

But, it looks like Zbattery has it here: http://www.zbattery.com/tr164a1.html

Cheers!

Darryl, I saw your previous post. That is definately an easy solution to the problem. I am interested in the longer shelflife of the lithiums but was concerned that the voltage might be over 6V. It may change the exposure. I guess I will try one and find out. If I get motivated I will clock the shutter speeds with different batteries...Roger

I think the original calls for 5.6 v and even the clerk at Batteries Plus was concerned that going to 6 v might affect exposure. My exposures all seem spot-on, even night time exposures up to 30 seconds. I didn't worry about the longer shelf life since the alkaline should last a year or two in use.

Have fun!
