I have a nice Summarit-M 5cm f1.5 on which 2 aperture blades have just become loose. I'm looking to sell it as-is. I believe it's a 80$ job to have it fixed... I'm also dwelling about the asking price. I understand the summarit-M are sought after.

I understand the summarit-M are sought after.
Is that because they are a later model? Improved over the LTM?

Leitz made the Summarit until the advent of the Summilux, circa late 1950s.
the Summarit was made in LTM and M mount till then ( mid to late..ish 1950s) .
I doubt if there was any difference optically in the two Summarits, M & LTM.

Does anyone have any ideas as to who might stock an E41 screwin lenshood for a Summarit. Ian.

has the Summarit at $ 300. It is a VERY hard lens to find without haze or scratches. When you find one that is VERY clean, they can go much higher, but not much more than $ 500-600 for a true minty one.

Mine was in the high range for a noncollectible, I think I paid about $400 for it. But it came with original caps and the Summarit shade (the square one), the coatings are perfect except for one slight spot internally; no scratches at all, anywhere. *Anywhere* Like Costanza once said to Seinfeld: "it's like finding Plutonium...by accident!"
It's an M-mount, and it performs remarkably well compared with most, and it stills gives that unique Summarit look with highlights. Stopped down to at least f/2.8, it's like shooting a tricky 50 Elmarit.

If this is the famous "*" Summitar or the batch right after it: give it to me!edodo said:He want to trade it with my radioactive summicron plus some money. What do you think?
I mean. Err...you haven't traded it yet, have you? Don't. You should be paid money in return, not the other way around. My opinion.

I just sold him my summicron, I just can't afford the summarit right now! I may just roam evilbay some months in order to find one cheap screwmount!

Anyway he showed me his combo, an early M3 with glass plate and the blocking back door with this summarit and the original thin leica leather strap. Oh boy it was nice to hold! The summarit isn't that big lens and really is beautiful! It was a M mount with perfect coating.

I just got my Summarit from DAG (cleaned and repaired. Most excellent job, Can't recommend DAG enough). I just developed some shots and all I can say is WOW! I'm impressed at how good it is. I wasn't expecting such good performance.
