hi, everybody,

this is my first post here, and maybe the last one if i don't find the opportunity to have a leica M.
I always had the desire to use this kind of camera, but never decided to buy one, because i thought they where expensive, because i have a good lineup of af lenses... etc....

but now i decided: i'll try to trade my 300/4 minolta for a leica M, no matter which (i have preferences, anyway), with a good lens.

do you think that a trade like this could work on this forum?

I'm going to guess you will need to throw in some extra cash for that deal, but I dont see why you coulnt make it a partial trade. The minolta system is basically obosolete now, with most new SLR owners going the way of the EOS and Nikon systems. (but us Minolta users really know whats good ;) )

Good luck finding an M!

Minolta Maxxum 7, Minolta AL/F rangefinder, Minolta Maxxum 7000 :p

no, i don't think minolta brand is obsolete!!! sony is doing good with the new digireflex.

so you think it could be used for a partial trade? I saw it sold for 1200€ on the bay: how much would an m3 or 4 cost (not a collectible one, obviously)

minolta rocks!

Holy cow, which one is this?! I guess you might be able to get an early model M with that but few people on RFF are going from RF to SLR (especially film) but its worth a shot.

Good luck with your quest. I hope you find something you like!

I would think that your best bet would be to put that lens on ebay and let it go there, you should be able to get a decent amount of money, and be able to get a good M2 or M3, and probably an older collapsible 50 Summicron in good shape. When I sold my 100 f2, I made 4 times what I paid for it. Also with the possibility of Sony coming out with two more bodies in the future, there may be more people willing to look for the f4 300, as opposed to paying for a brand new SSM 300 2.8. Since the A100 came out, prices for all of the classic Minolta lenses have gone up. Check out this site, http://maxxumeyes.com/UsedPrices.htm , similar to the one by a user here who tracks used prices for various Leica mount lenses.

found a webforum linked to the site you suggested me (great site, by the way, both for contents and layout). I'll try there and later on ebay. I hate paypal and all the fees you have to pay!!!

I'll be back soon (I hope) :)
