Something that has been really getting to me of late is the M7's 50mm framelines. I really hate how the bottom line is not complete, that there are only two little markings to show where the corner of the frame is but not a complete line running the length of it. I love my M7 but this is becomming a real sore point with me, especially since using a magnifier. Matters are made worse seeing as I don't have the newer flare free viewfinder and the lines often dissappear totally.
Anyone else find this a pain?

I have two lines separated in the middle at the bottom of my 50mm frame. Maybe they changed that with the MP type finder?

are you sure? 50mm line is full visible without corners, 75mm line is cornered with lines. i.e. the outer line is 50, the inner line is 75. i have mp but i though they are the same.

This is how the frame lines should look, might be a problem with your mask or something

I have two M7s - 0.85 mag & 0.72 mag - and the 50 framelines are the same on both: top and both sides a full line, bottom is two lines separated by a large space in the middle, no corners. I personally don't have a problem with this layout.

no, different in mine.
It's only something that I've noticed recently as most of my work was done on an M3 until now, using the M7 for 35mm work primarily. I'm getting really put out by it though. It may seem strange, but I liked it better with my M6, with full lines and no corners. I wonder why they've done this?

Something wrong with your M7, or your magnifier ... or even your lens ?

I have the same model, no MP viewfinder, and mine is exactly as Avotius showed. Time for servicing ...

I have the 'broken' lower 50mm frameline as well on my .72 Perhaps 'interrupted' is a better word? My VF does not look like the illustration posted above (I never see the boat:D). Like Peter I have no corners for the 50, the bottom has two lines which terminate in line with where the 75 frame corners are- large space with no line on the bottom. I only have this camera with me today- I'll check the others tonight.

It seems that there is no real standard for many of the parts in Leicas- the pressure plate has variations. I've been told they 'grab what they have on hand' when assembling cameras (specifications may change without notice). You might call and ask if you can have your lines changed out- if the piece is available I'm sure they would do it.
